General note
The alea function for recognising the lying position in the care bed is made possible by the movement sensor in the alea clip. For carers, this function is a positioning aid for pressure ulcer prevention, as it provides real-time information about the body and lying position of a care recipient with a risk of pressure ulcers or existing pressure ulcers.
Objectives of this function
-
Ideally, it should prevent pressure sores by displaying the current and previous period of a specific body or lying position.
-
Carers receive assistance in optimising the positioning intervals in order to reduce the pressure on certain areas of the body.
-
Carers can also actively use this function to help optimise wound healing by preventing additional damage.
-
Ideally, the affected parts of the care recipient's body are only exposed to minimal pressure or friction.
Indication
The carer in charge can use the alea cockpit to decide whether there is an indication for activating this function for the care recipient in question. This is because this function should only actually be activated for people with a risk of pressure ulcers or mild, moderate and severe pressure ulcers (stage I, stage II, stage III, IV pressure ulcers). This requires a corresponding need for care, a pressure ulcer or pressure point or at least a corresponding risk of one. The function can be used temporarily or permanently.
This function should not be used for immobile care recipients who are bedded on automatic pressure mattresses.
Supplementary information regarding medical application parameters for movement monitoring
Intended medical use of the repositioning function for decubitus prophylaxis
This function is a positioning aid for the prevention of pressure sores that informs carers in real time about the body and lying position of a care recipient at risk of pressure sores or with existing pressure sores. This function helps to
-
It prevents pressure sores by determining the current and previous body or lying position in real time at any time,
-
optimisation of positioning intervals by the carer to relieve pressure in certain areas of the body, and
-
optimise wound healing (avoid additional damage), as caregivers can ensure that all or only certain parts of the body are exposed to minimal pressure and friction.
Indications for use
People at risk of pressure sores or with mild, moderate and severe pressure sores (stage I, stage II, stage III, IV pressure sores).
Medical condition that needs to be diagnosed, treated or monitored
-
Need for care (ICD-10 Z.74.-)
-
Pressure ulcer and pressure ulcer area (L89)
-
Risk of pressure ulcers and pressure sores (L89)
Duration of use
The digital assistance system as part of the positioning aid for pressure ulcer prevention can be used in the short, medium and long term.
Note on possible application risks
-
Digital movement monitoring for pressure ulcer prevention should be seen as a digital nursing assistance system and does not replace existing nursing quality and action standards.
-
When used and attached correctly, the alea hardware does not come into direct contact with the patient or their skin. Carers should nevertheless ensure that the clip is attached to the side of the IKP that is not the side facing the bed.
Contraindication
Not suitable for immobile patients with automated pressure mattresses.
