How does the position monitoring work?
alea’s position monitoring uses a motion sensor in the alea clip to provide care givers with real-time information on the body and lying position of patients at risk of pressure ulcers or with existing pressure ulcers. The function serves as a positioning aid for pressure ulcer prevention and helps to optimise repositioning intervals.
Objectives of the function:
- Prevent pressure ulcers by displaying the current and previous lying position.
- Relieve pressure on specific areas of the body to minimise friction and damage.
- Promote wound healing by avoiding additional strain.
Indications:
- Use for: Individuals at risk of pressure ulcers or with pressure ulcers (stages I–IV).
- Activation: Via the alea Cockpit if there is a corresponding need for care or a risk.
- Duration: Can be used temporarily or permanently.
Instructions for use:
- The alea hardware has no direct contact with the skin. Measurement is contactless via the incontinence product.
- Not suitable for immobile care recipients on automatic pressure-relief mattresses.
Medical benefits:
- Real-time monitoring of lying position for targeted pressure relief.
- Optimisation of repositioning intervals by carers.
Contraindications:
- Do not use with automatic pressure-relief mattresses.
Note: The system does not replace standard care practices, but supports decision-making.
